We'll regroup at the normal Riverbluff trail points:
1. The parking lot
2. The end of the trail
This week we'll run the Devil's Creek Trail, but to avoid some of the construction in town and allow us to meet up more easily with those that may not be able to/want to run the hill at the start, we'll run directly to the trail and then to the end of the Rare trail and back along the Riverbluffs trail (see the original link for clarification). This way, it's only about 800m longer than the Riverbluffs route, so those that opt for that route can easily meet up with those doing Devil's Creek later in the run.
We'll regroup at the normal Riverbluff trail points: 1. The parking lot 2. The end of the trail

This week, let's run Soper Park, since it's been a bit since we last ran it.
There are a few options for adding distance, both are around 15km: 1. Cheese Factory, Waynco and West River (or the Rail Trail) 2. Add a loop through Moffat Creek and Franklin Pond Regroup at: 1. Elgin and Soper Park 2. Elgin and Myers Road This Saturday, we'll be running the West River Road/Rail Trail Loop. We will regroup at Footbridge Road (~5km).
Running out and back on the rail trail is also an option (rather than going out on West River), especially if it's hot out and people want a bit more shade. As always, new route ideas are always welcome. With the sun coming out to bake us, I'm trying to think of less exposed routes, but only have a small list of them to go off of and would love new additions. ***After I posted this, I also learned that a small group is going to run approximately 20km starting at 7:00am this Saturday, so if anyone else would like to join them, they're welcome to meet them then. They're not sure exactly what route they will take yet, but they do know that they won't be looping back to the parking lot at 8:00am.*** This Saturday, we'll run the Riverbluffs/Rare Trail route. Some people who want to run longer will be doing the Langdon loop (14km).
Regrouping points: 1. The Rare Trail parking lot (~3.5km) 2. The end of the main trail (~5km) Dave Johnson is hoping to bring out some people from his Kitchener running group, so it should be a great run! This week we'll run the Moffat Creek loop (10km), and those that want a bit more distance can include Franklin Pond (14-15km).
Regrouping Points: 1. Myers Road and Christopher Dr (3km) 2. Myers Road and Franklin (4.3km, shortly before the turnoff for people going longer) 3. Champlain and Elgin (7km) This Saturday, some of us will be running the Cambridge to Paris rail trail. There are some people that are doing a 10km out and back run from the Cambridge rail trail parking lot, so anyone who didn't want to do the full run but wants to join us for that can meet us there at 8am instead of the regular meeting spot.
This Saturday, we'll be running the Devil's Creek Loop. Those wanting to run longer can easily add distance by running out and back on the Rare trail.
Regrouping Points: 1. St. Andrew's and Southwood Drive (2km) 2. Parkwood and Blenheim (5km) Because this is a route that we've only ran once before, if the group is spreading out too much, we might want to stop at other points to make sure everyone knows which way to go. This Saturday, we'll be running the West River Road/Rail Trail Loop. We will regroup at Footbridge Road.
Also, just a heads up that some of us are planning to run the Rail Trail from Cambridge to Paris on May 14th. It will be about 20km, but if people are interested in coming along but doing less, we may be able to arrange some sort of relay with people switching off in Glen Morris. This Saturday, we'll run the Riverbluffs/Rare Trail route. Options for adding distance are running the back trails (they add about 1km) or doing the Langdon loop (14km).
Now that the weather is becoming more consistently warm (please don't blame me for the next cold spell), I've been thinking I'll try to cycle through more routes with trails. If there are routes that you'd like to do (whether they have trails or not), let me know and I'll add them in as well. Next Saturday, we'll be doing an extra special run to prepare for the Cambridge Mill Race. We'll be running up to the start at Highland Public School, then regroup and run the race route.
Regrouping Points: 1. Highland Public School (1km) 2. George St and Blair Road (5km) This will be a good training run for all those who are running the race. It will also be helpful for all the volunteers who want to really empathize with the runners. The hills are courtesy of Steve, so be sure to show your appreciation. |
