If you venture south on the Cambridge to Paris Rail Trail you might notice this sign. In fact you should watch for it. Thanks to Steve Mota for initiating this project.

Notice from Lisa Leskien:
Hi everyone, I’m involved in a Bruce trail fundraiser hosted by local runner Kristy Goss. She is on route to raising $1000 for the Bruce trail to celebrate her 1000th day of consecutive running (a nice long streak). She is hosting a “women who walk the walk- tales from the trail” fundraiser night at Jackass brewery in Cambridge on August 23. There will be 4 running-themed guest speakers -me being one of them :) There will be a q &a and a beverage included as well as an excellent chance to win draw prizes (the event caps out at 25 tickets, so those are good odds to win a prize). This event is open to everyone (not just women), come on out and let’s support the Bruce trail. Tickets can be purchased by following this link: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/the-4-ws-women-who-walk-the-walk-tales-from-the-trail-tickets-48410469016 Don't forget the Cambridge YMCA Jingle Bell 5 km Race. It's being held on Sunday November 19th YMCA on Hespeler Road. A 2.5 km starts at 10 a.m. and the 5 km starts at 10:40 a.m. This event has been going on for decades using various courses until the Y moved to Hespeler Road. Now there's an out and back route with no hills to speak of. If you enter before November 12, the 5 km fee is $30. After that it goes up to $40. If you collect $50 in pledges, the fee is waived. There are 10-year age categories for prizes, as well as random door prizes. There's a good feed afterwards too.
You can enter at the YMCA main desk, pick up an entry form and mail it in, or enter online at: raceroster.com/events/2017/14207/jingle-bell-run The club is working on new artwork and apparel, including jacket, shirt, singlet and toque. Samples have been ordered of the following:
Jen and Sean Kellett will be hosting the event at their home in the evening of December 16th. No potluck meal this time around. Instead, after we have confirmation of numbers, appetizers and dessert items will be ordered in. Drinks will be provided. More details to follow shortly. The party will be open to all Harriers (with paid up memberships) and their spouses/partners.
Please RSVP to Jen Registration opened for the 2nd annual Dion Winter Goose Chase 7k Snowshoe race earlier in October for next year's race. The first price increase happens on November 2nd, so I just wanted the harriers to know and take advantage of the early bird pricing.
The race takes place on Saturday February 3, 2018 at Shades mills conservation area in Cambridge. Proceeds this year are to support the waterloo region Down syndrome society. Right now the race fee is $25 if you need to rent snowshoes the rental fee is $10 and you need to do this as you register. We have limited pairs available and last year, all were reserved over a month in advance. It looks like I will run out of rental pairs again this year, so make sure you do this when you register. I will be sending another email asking for volunteers to help on race day. As a thank you for helping, part of your 2019 cambridge Harriers membership fee will be waived. More info is coming about that. This year's event will be bigger than last year, and I can't wait to host another fun day in the snow! Please check out the race website and register soon!
