The Remember Run 5K was held in Riverside Park on Saturday. Brendan McFarlane was the overall winner in 17:52 and his father Tom was 9th overall in 20:41. Mike Hammond was the M50 category winner, finishing 9th overall in 20:16, while Gary Cassel ran 21:38 to place 14th overall and 2nd in the M50's.
Katherine Willis won the W60 category with a 27:40 and Brenda Cassel won the W70 category in 45:25. Heather Chan placed 61st overall, running 29:03.
At the Road2Hope race weekend in Hamilton, Margaux Yvernogeau set a pb by running the 10K in 42:53 and was the third female overall. In the Canadian Masters 10K championship category, Wayne Gagne ran 48:32 to win the M65 title. Sevanne Ghazarian ran in the elite 5k and had a time of 17:03 in 9th place.
Last month, Mike Hammond was among the tens of thousands in the London (England) Marathon and posted a time of 3:02. Turns out he had covid at the time as well, hence the walking breaks he had to take.
