We had a good contingent of Harriers competing in, and helping out at the Conquer The Canuck Trail Races at Shades Mills last weekend. We had a winner in the 8.9 km race with Jacob Zerko zipping around the hilly course in 32:43. Nelson Coelho was 11th in 48:31, Dave Johnson was 13th in 51:04 and Sharon Rutledge was 17th in 59:19.
In the 25 km, Steve Mota was 7th out of 55 runners in 2:18:04. Mitch Free took the win in 1:43:27 A few club results keep trickling in. Jacob Zerko continued his strong showing last weekend, placing second out of 567 runners in the Moon In June 5K in Burlington. It was his first 5K and his time was 16:14. Recently, Rob Brouillette placed 1st in the Sulphur Springs 20K Trail Race in Ancaster, posting a time of 1:16. Heather Chan competed in the Huron Shore Half Marathon up in Southampton, finishing in 2:15 and first in her age category. And here's a report from Steve Mota about his most recent race: Doug Rivera and Steve Mota joined Pedro Fernandes and his Bruce Trail Mix relay team at this year's edition of the Cabot Trail Relay. The Cabot Trail Relay Race is a 300Km race, which starts in Baddeck, NS and does a counterclockwise loop of Cape Breton Island (Cabot trail), returning to Baddeck to finish. There are 17 legs or individual races, each vary in distance between 12 to 20km. There are some very challenging hill climbs on some of these legs! Pedro had been going to this race for 20 years, and just completed all 17 legs this year. Doug and I were "newbies" on the 13 member team. One of our team members had to cancel the trip due to getting Covid, and Doug and I were tasked with doing two legs each, yikes! All went well and the camaraderie, excellent seafood and amazing scenery made it an epic trip, highly recommended. Our team finished 34th out of 63 teams overall |
